Acknowledgement to Country
​The Hobart Fijian Inc. respectfully acknowledges the Tasmanian Aboriginal People as the Traditional and ongoing custodians of lutruwita (Tasmania). We recognise the enduring connection of the palawa people to land, waters, skies, and community, and the care they have given to their children and Country for thousands of generations.
We pay our deepest respects to Elders past and present, and extend that respect to emerging Elders. We acknowledge that we live, work, learn, and gather on Aboriginal land—land that was, is, and always will be Aboriginal.
We acknowledge the Tasmanian Aboriginal Community as the traditional and continuing custodians of Lutruwita, where Palawa have cared for their children and prepared them for life for thousands of years.​

Our Story
The Hobart Fijian Community Incorporation was founded from a deep desire to stay connected to our roots and inspire our youth to find pride and identity in their culture.
We aim to support Fijian families and friends across Hobart where we can, create a home away from home
We envision a vibrant community where Fijian culture, traditions, and values are proudly celebrated and passed down through generations. Guided by the wisdom of our Elders, we are committed to preserving our heritage for the future.
We see the Glenorchy Uniting Church as the heart of this effort, bringing together Pacific Islanders and creating a strong, united space for growth. Through the church’s support, we aim to foster unity, generosity, education, and well-being—ensuring our youth grow up with a strong sense of identity and pride.
